Using the app

How do I magnify text?

Open the app: the camera starts on its own. Point it at the text, then drag the yellow slider at the bottom of the screen to the right to magnify (up to 10 times).

How do I turn the light on?

The round button to the left of the magnification slider turns the torch on. It works at the same time as magnification, and it makes all the difference when the text is in shadow.

The image shakes and I can't read it

That is exactly what the "Freeze" button is for (blue, in the middle). Tap it: the image is captured and stops moving. You can then zoom in calmly with two fingers, like on a photo. Tap it again to restart the camera.

How do I have the text read out loud?

1. Point the camera at the text, getting nice and close
2. Tap "Listen", the green button on the left
3. The app freezes the image on its own, recognises the text and reads it out loud. The word being spoken is highlighted in yellow

Tip: the voice works even if your phone is on silent. Just turn the volume up with the buttons on the side of the phone.

The screen is too dark / the colours look strange

You have probably tapped the "Contrast" button. Tap it once or twice more to return to the normal display (it cycles through: normal → boosted black and white → inverted colours).

Buying

Do I have to pay for anything?

The magnifier is free and will stay free. Magnifying, the light, freezing the image and contrast cost nothing, with no time limit. Only reading out loud is paid.

Is it a subscription?

No. It is a one-off purchase, paid once, with no renewal and no trial period. What you buy is yours for life and can be shared with your Apple family group. There is nothing to cancel afterwards.

I had already paid and I've changed phone

Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account, not to the device. Open the app on the new phone, tap "Listen" and then "Restore my purchase" at the bottom of the screen. Everything comes back, with no second payment.

How do I request a refund?

Payments are handled by Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account and follow the instructions. Apple alone decides on refunds, but if something seems unfair to you, write to us as well — we will do what we can to help.
